Blarney Castle and the Stone of “Eloquence” (Ireland)

An Irish poet of XIX century Francis Sylvester Mahony wrote about the stone of Blarny Castle:

‘Tis there’s the stone that whoever kisses

He never misses to grow eloquent;

‘Tis he may clamber to a lady’s chamber,

Or become a member of Parliament.

Beside visiting one of the most beautiful magic stones in the world, Blarny offers tourists an opportunity to take a walk in a marvelous garden, to have a picnic near the lake or to explore Rock Close – a magic place surrounded by mighty yews and oaks. Here pagan alters Druid’s circle and Witches Kitchen are located. The atmosphere of Rock Close touches the deepest feelings of the visitors. Here there are wonderful paths winding around the trees and a water garden with white-foamed waterfalls. This beautiful place can be visited during any season of the year – in spring the castle is surrounded by blossoming flowers; in autumn the neighborhood is just shining with the light of yellow, golden and amber leaves.

Blarny House built in 1874 lies 200 steps south of the castle. It is one of the most elegant and dearest ancient houses of Ireland. The patrimony was remodeled with much taste and regained its previous grandeur. The manor rests in a luxurious setting of beautiful gardens of lawns, deciduous groves, flower meadows and trees leading to the lake.
