Today, in Moscow at the “Moscow Operetta Theater” on Bolshaya Dmitrovka Street, the 26th annual ceremony of presenting the National Nika Film Award was held.
The National Nika Film Award was established in 1987 by the secretariat of the Union of Filmmakers of USSR as a professional film award, given for the achievements, including the scientific ones, in film making, and for the professional input into the development of the domestic film industry. The award was established at the initiative of film director Yuli Gusman and screenwriter Victor Merezhko and since that time it has been presented every year.
According to the established tradition, this ceremony was hosted by the award’s art director Yuli Gusman.

Among the guests at the ceremony there were Eldar Ryazanov, Maksim Sukhanov, Inna Churikova, Vladimir Dolinsky, Pavel Lungin, Vladimir Zeldin, Vera Glagoleva, Lia Akhedjakova, Iosif Kobzon with his spouse Nelly, Edgar Zapashny, Viacheslav Murugov, Boris Grachevskiy, Liza Arzamasova, Sergei Garmash, Mikhail Shvydkoi, Anna Mikhalkova, Egor and Andrei Konchalovsky and other film celebrities.

As always. The award was presented to the best of the best, but especially it is worthwhile to mention giving the award to the people’s artist of USSR Inna Mikhailovna Churikova and her husband, well-known film director and screenplay writer Gleb Anatolievich Panfilov.
The award for Honour and Dignity to Inna Churikova and Gleb Panfilov was handed by Lia Akhedjakova, Eldar Ryazanov, Alexander Shirvindt and Mikhail Shvydkoi.
«There are two awardees, so we came as a big brigade – dear Lia, and three mighty men, or to be more precise, the assembly of who knows what – quipped Ryazanov. Dear Inna is a legendary one, great one – I love her and I adore her. I do not even have to mention her wonderful human characteristics. And Gleb is a unique, weighty, thoughtful, and tailor-made film director.»
Lia Akhedjakova remembered that she worked together with Churikova at the Theater of Young Spectators. “I recollect how we quietly – just two of us, were drinking to Solzhenitsyn’s health. And now Gleb is filming his “The First Circle.” And Inna appeared there acting in such an honest, terrifying way, – she presented women who were waiting – waiting and dying. I think that she is a great actress.»
In his turn, Shirvindt commented that he was growing up all the way through the Nika ceremony. “In the past, I was giving (the award) to the supporting pyrotechnics, and now here I am – growing up to the level of our dear Inna” – said the head of the Theater of Satire. To the audience’s laughter he proposed to establish a special award starting next year – For the Loss of Honour and Dignity in three degrees – Accidental Loss, Temporary Loss, and Final Loss.
The last one to congratulate Churikova, who was touched to tears, was the special representative of the president of Russian Federation in international cultural cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi. “I have been invited just because of one reason – I am the only one, who is able to hold up two objects and support Eldar Aleksandrovich as well», – he joked and added that the couple has been always walking together in step with each other, and that is what really matters.
