October 5–16, 2011. Trip to South Korea.

October 5-16, 2011, there will be a trip to South Korea. I plan to get acquainted with the history, culture and traditions of South Korea.

The itinerary includes a visit to the capital of South Korea – Seoul. There will be a trip to the Royal Gyeongbokgung Palace and local lore village in the Namsan Park; touring Deoksugung Palace and admiring the panoramic view of the 15-million city from the height of Seoul TV Tower; journeying along the East coast and visiting Sokcho City; getting acquainted with the Seoraksan National Park; viewing VI century temple in the Sinheungsa Monastery; visiting Baekdamsa Monastery and excursion to Vanguk village; excursion to the Rainbow Temple (Naksansa); getting acquainted with the Gyeongju City; visiting one of the oldest Buddhist temples Bulguksa; excursion to the Sokkuram cave temple; visiting the Andong City, which is rightfully considered to be the treasury of Confucian tradition. I will visit the famous Dosan Confucian Academy, which was founded back in XVI century and also stay overnight in a Buddhist temple and in a traditional Korean house “hanok.” I am going to taste dishes of Korean cuisine and take part in a “royal meal,” where dishes of royal cuisine are served. Among other plans there is also attending Nanta Cooking Show.
