May 2—8, 2014. Traveling in Israel and Palestine
In May 2-8, 2014, I plan to travel in Israel and Palestine in the company of guide Slava Kim.
In the traveling program:
- Going to the Dead Sea, the lowest point of our planet according to sea level;
- Excursion to Qumran – the place, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found;
- Excursion to nature reserve and national park Ein Gedi. King David was hiding in this area from king Saul;
- Studying the Masada fortress – one of the symbols of tenacity and courage of Israel’s defenders;
- Excursion to Jericho, one of the most ancient cities of the world. Studying its history, culture, local colour, and attending its market;
- Pilgrimage to the hometown of Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ. Visiting a crusader’s monastery in Sepphoris;
- Jerusalem, excursion to the TempleMount, tour of the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa mosque;
- Meeting the Samaritans. Studying the history, culture, and life of the Samaritans. Attending the SamaritanMuseum in Shechem (Nablus), and ascending to MountGerizim;
- Savouring Israeli wines and cheeses;
- Surveying the culinary peculiarities of Israel, and tasting the dishes of the nations inhabiting Israel.
