Maya Mikhaylovna Plisetskaya

In Germany, at the age of 89, Maya Mikhaylovna Plisetskaya, a prominent ballet dancer, passed into eternity. Maya Mikhaylovna died on the 2nd of May of 2015 from a heart attack.

Maya Plisetskaya danced for virtually sixty years, and for almost fifty of them – on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre, where she was accepted back n 1943, right after she graduated from Moscow choreographic school.

Maya Mikhaylovna performed all the major roles in the classical ballet repertoires of the Bolshoi Theatre. Among the most acclaimed roles of the ballet dancer are Odette-Odile in Swan Lake, Aurora in Sleeping Beauty, Raymonda in the same-name ballet by Glazunov, the Mistress of the Copper Mountain in Prokofiev’s Stone Flower, and Carmen in Carmen Suite by Rodion Shchedrin.

Maya Plisetskaya was awarded numerous prizes and awards.
